The Caminha Municipal Council has completed the project to requalify the Floating Pontoon at the Mouth of the Minho River, an investment of approximately 170 thousand euros promoted by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).

The intervention's main objective was to reinforce safety conditions, improve the pontoon's operationality, and enhance an area of significant importance for navigation and river-related activities.
The work included dredging, improvements to the existing quay, and the extension of the pontoon from 18 to 24 meters. This solution moved the structure further from the bank, reducing future silting impact and ensuring better usability for its users.
The floating pontoon now offers greater efficiency in supporting vessels and rescue operations, simultaneously enhancing navigation safety and the functionality of essential equipment for users of the Minho River Estuary.
This intervention represents another step in enhancing the river and maritime accessibility of the municipality, ensuring greater safety, functionality, and durability for a fundamental piece of equipment for maritime activity and the entities operating daily in this estuarine area.
