The participation rules for both initiatives were approved at the last Council meeting, marking the start of an innovative cultural project that places young people and artistic creation at the center of the municipality's cultural policies.
With EMERGE, the Municipality intends to create a platform for discovering, valuing, and promoting young talents, offering opportunities for participation, experimentation, and creative exchange. The Biennial aims to establish Caminha as a territory of culture, innovation, and creativity.
The School Biennial, an educational component, is aimed at young people aged 12 to 18 from the municipalities of Caminha, A Guarda, and O Rosal. It seeks to bring students closer to contemporary arts through experiences of creation and reflection in a school context.
Workshops led by invited artists will be a main focus of the School Biennial, providing direct contact with different languages and creative processes. The goal is to stimulate artistic expression and strengthen young people's connection to identity and territory.
The first edition of the School Biennial will take place throughout the 2026/2027 academic year, culminating in a competition and public exhibition of the developed works. Prizes are planned for two age groups, and distinguished projects may be submitted to the EMERGE jury.
Registration for the School Biennial will be open from November 9 to 30, 2026, via the email address bienal@cm-caminha.pt.
With the launch of these projects, the Municipality of Caminha highlights its commitment to youth, artistic education, and the formation of new audiences for culture.
