Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters will join Palestinian singer-songwriter Mona Miari for a tribute concert at the Escritaria festival in Penafiel on Saturday, October 24th.

The special participation of Roger Waters and Mona Miari enhances the international dimension of Penafiel's literary festival, which this year honors the East Timorese writer Luís Cardoso. The event takes place at Ponto C – Penafiel, at 9:30 PM.
The duo will perform live in Europe for the first time "Comfortably Numb Re-Imagined" (June 2026), a restructured version of the Pink Floyd classic. This rendition, released in June 2026, incorporates the voice and influences of Mona Miari's traditional Arabic music and includes a film directed by David Barron, with footage shot in the Gaza Strip.
The presence of Waters and Miari is part of the tribute "Luís Represas, uma voz por Timor" (Luís Represas, a voice for Timor), dedicated to the voice of Trovante and the song "Timor". The tribute also features Cícero Lee, Flávio Serpa, Irene Lima, João Gil, and João Nuno Represas, curated by Manuel Faria and moderated by journalist Pedro Dias de Almeida.
The Mayor of Penafiel, Pedro Cepeda, highlighted that Escritaria "has made Penafiel a meeting point between literature and the cultures of the Lusophone world", promoting "free thought, dialogue, and reflection on the great challenges of our time".
The 19th edition of Escritaria, running until Sunday, also includes concerts by Adriana Calcanhoto (Friday, 10:00 PM) and Sérgio Godinho (Sunday, 5:00 PM), as well as a life interview with Luís Cardoso, conducted by Ana Sousa Dias.
