The initiative, promoted by the Educational Service of the Protected Area of Lagoas de Bertiandos and São Pedro d’Arcos, is aimed at students from 7th to 12th grade, including vocational education, and teachers. The 5th edition of the School Agenda for the 2026/2027 academic year aims to be a daily organization tool and an environmental education instrument, focusing on the importance of urban trees and the Municipality's role in their enhancement.
The agenda opens with a message from the Mayor, Engineer Vasco Ferraz, who challenges young people to reflect on the importance of trees and biodiversity for the municipality. The mayor emphasizes the role of trees and forests in the community's quality of life and encourages new generations to play an active role in preserving the territory.
Three specialists in landscape architecture and urbanism contributed to the publication: Architect Elsa Severino, Architect Francisco Caldeira Cabral, and Architect Manuel Sousa, along with Eng.º Gonçalo Rodrigues, the municipality's Councilor for Environment and Green Spaces.
Throughout the school year, students will have access to a complete calendar, with national holidays and commemorative international days, emphasizing dates related to the environment, nature, and citizenship. The agenda also launches a challenge to develop a sustainable development project for Ponte de Lima, which can be presented at the V Forum on Environment and Sustainability in June 2027.
Through this initiative, the Municipality of Ponte de Lima reinforces its commitment to environmental education and raising awareness among young people for the preservation of natural heritage.
