The projects Seixal Criativo, Seixal Cultural, and Seixalíada were the recipients, recognizing the work done in revitalizing and growing the municipality. The ceremony took place on October 1st and 2nd.
Paulo Silva, president of the Seixal Municipal Chamber, stated, "The municipality of Seixal is to be congratulated! The awarding of these prizes is recognition of the work being done in the dynamism and growth of the municipality, work that is done by everyone: elected officials, employees, institutions, the associative movement, and the population. Together, we continue to build an ever-better municipality that increasingly makes us proud."
The applications were submitted because they are "a relevant example of the municipality's capacity for innovation, planning, and intervention through sport, culture, and youth." The Municipal Excellence Award values the positive impact of projects on their communities, the dynamism they bring to these territories, and the benefits for the future of the populations.
The distinguished projects will be integrated into the Observatory of Municipal Dynamics, promoting the sharing of good practices. "This integration will allow for greater visibility of the projects, valuing the achieved results, and facilitating their dissemination and knowledge by other entities and municipalities, promoting the spread of experiences that can be adapted and replicated in other territories," added Paulo Silva.
The Seixalíada, one of the largest multi-sport events in the country, takes place annually under the banner of "sport for all," involving thousands of people in over 200 activities and 70 modalities between September and October. Over 43 editions, it has promoted sports practice, community participation, and intergenerational interaction.
Seixal Cultural is based on a program developed in partnership with the cultural associative movement of the municipality, where associations play an active role in creating and producing projects, blending different artistic languages and bringing diverse programming to various spaces and communities.
Seixal Criativo, a pioneering project in Portugal, is a learning and experimentation center in science and technology for young people from the 7th to 12th grade, completely free of charge. Through projects, clubs, training, and other initiatives, it promotes the development of creativity, innovation, and skills that enable transforming ideas into concrete projects.
