The Montijo Municipal Council approved an investment of 553,863.07 euros in Sports Development Program Contracts for the 2026/2027 season, reinforcing support for 34 associations in the municipality.

The municipal executive of Montijo approved, in a meeting on September 30, a set of Sports Development Program Contracts for the 2026/2027 season. This initiative aims to reinforce municipal support for the associative sports movement in the municipality.
The approved measures include 60 actions, divided into three areas: 34 for regular program support, 12 for investment support, and 14 for one-off events. The total financial investment amounts to 553,863.07 euros and directly benefits 34 local associations.
According to Céu Simões, councilor for Sports, this amount represents a 7.9% increase compared to the same period last year, also reflecting the growth in the number of eligible sports applications. "The Sports Development Program Contracts are a fundamental instrument for providing predictability, stability, dynamism, and identity to the associative sports movement in our municipality," stated Simões.
The support is intended for associations and clubs across various sports, aiming to sustain their regular activities, invest in infrastructure and equipment, and facilitate sports initiatives throughout the 2026/2027 season. The decision strengthens the partnership between the Council and the associative movement, recognizing their role in promoting sports and revitalizing the municipality.
Additionally, 5,000 euros were approved for the Motoclube do Montijo, as part of its 33rd anniversary celebrations, to be held on October 17 and 18, 2026.
