Throughout October, the Municipality of Moita organized a comprehensive program dedicated to the senior population, featuring initiatives that combined culture, sports, citizenship, and health prevention, reinforcing its commitment to active aging and social inclusion across the various parishes of the municipality.
The activities began on October 11th with an excursion to Nazaré. Students from the Senior University of Moita (UNISEM) also participated in a boat trip. Expression and self-esteem were highlighted in the "Aging is Fashionable" initiative.
Information sessions on health and citizenship were also held, along with outdoor sports classes in the municipality's parks. The Solidarity March of the Association of Women with Breast Pathology (AMPM) was part of the program. The traveling show "Soap Bubbles" was presented in various elderly care homes.
The official closing took place on October 27th at the José Manuel Figueiredo Cultural Forum in Baixa da Banheira, with the show "Fado: The Fadistas and the Poets", which included audience participation. Councillor António Carlos Pereira attended the event and highlighted the positive outcome of the initiatives, organized in coordination with parish councils and associations.
This program reinforces the Municipality of Moita's commitment to promoting active aging, ensuring that the elderly population remains at the center of social and cultural life.
