The Moita Municipal Council will provide domestic composting equipment to interested residents, as part of the “RecolhaBio – Support for the implementation of domestic composting in the municipality of Moita” program, funded by the Environmental Fund.

The program aims to utilize and valorize organic waste from kitchens and gardens. Domestic composting is a natural process of transforming these residues – such as fruit peels, vegetable scraps, and dry leaves – into a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer called compost. Key advantages include waste reduction, obtaining a free and natural fertilizer for pots, vegetable patches, and gardens, and promoting healthier, more sustainable eating.
Along with the composter, the Municipal Council will offer a composting manual and promote further training opportunities in horticulture and composting, integrated into its regular environmental awareness activities.
Interested residents can request their free composter via the Green Waste Hotline: 800 210 633 (free call) or by email: div.residamburb@cm-moita.pt.
