The initiative, promoted by the Autonomous Functional Unit of Senology and the Health Reception and Humanization Service of ULSAS, challenged photographer Pedro Sadio to capture the essence of those living with this disease. The exhibition, displayed at Hospital Garcia de Orta, invites reflection on individual journeys, experiences, and the strength of patients.
More than raising awareness about the disease, the exhibition aims to value people, recognizing the uniqueness of each story and the importance of care that considers the emotional and human dimension. The initiative also seeks to raise awareness about the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer, which affects both women and men.
Pedro Correia Azevedo, President of the ULSAS Board of Directors, highlighted that "with initiatives like this, ULSAS reaffirms its commitment to providing healthcare that combines clinical excellence with humanization, promoting a person-centered approach, respecting their dignity, and valuing each life journey".
ULSAS thanked photographer Pedro Sadio for his generosity and artistic sensitivity, and makeup artists Inês Rodrigues and Aline Alves for their fundamental collaboration.
“"Each person is part of a memory and a story, personal and collective, of a time and a way of looking. Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone look at their portrait and like what they see."
Pedro Sadio, with over 30 years of experience, dedicates himself to documentary work, photographing people since he was 6 years old.
