The Municipality of Figueira da Foz was present at the 31st Forum of the Association of Mediterranean Maritime Museums (AMMM), held in Chania, Crete, Greece, from October 22 to 25.

The paper titled "From the Mediterranean to the Atlantic: maritime heritage, shipwrecks, and circulation networks in Figueira da Foz (Portugal)" was presented by Marco Penajoia, a technician from the Municipal Museum Santos Rocha. The presentation explored the historical connections between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, emphasizing the role of the sea, the Mondego River, shipwrecks, and port activities in the municipality's history and identity.
At the same meeting, the initiative to create the Portuguese Network of Maritime Museums was presented. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between institutions, promote knowledge sharing, and enhance national maritime heritage. The Municipality of Figueira da Foz, through its Division of Museums and Centers and the Municipal Museum Santos Rocha, intends to join this network as a founding municipality.
This international participation provided an opportunity to give international visibility to local heritage, share knowledge, and reinforce the commitment to research, preservation, and the valorization of maritime memory. The municipality believes that "Valuing our heritage is building bridges between territories, institutions, and communities."
