The Project A Poupança disseminates an essential guide on creating an Emergency Family Plan (PFE) and assembling an Emergency Kit to ensure family safety for 72 hours in disaster situations.

Being prepared for a natural disaster (like earthquakes or storms), fires, or major infrastructure failures requires two fundamental tools: an Emergency Family Plan (PFE) and an Emergency Kit for at least 72 hours.
The PFE is a coordinated action plan so that all household members know exactly what to do, whom to contact, and where to go. Essential elements include identifying local risks, defining safe meeting points (near home and outside the neighborhood), choosing an 'Off-Network' emergency contact, assigning specific tasks (like shutting off water, gas, and electricity mains or ensuring pet safety), and knowing evacuation routes.
The Emergency Kit, stored in an accessible backpack, should contain enough resources for 3 days. It includes water (at least 3 liters per person/day), non-perishable food (canned goods, energy bars, nuts), basic utensils, a comprehensive first-aid kit, regular medication, personal hygiene products, a flashlight, a battery-powered radio, power banks, copies of important documents (Citizen Card, health record), and money in notes and coins.
For protection and clothing, the kit should include a full change of clothes, warm layers, raincoats, sturdy footwear, and protective gloves. For pets, additional food, water, a leash, and medication are recommended.
Maintenance and practice are crucial. Semi-annual kit checks (water, food, batteries) are recommended, along with family drills to ensure everyone understands the plan without fear. The kit should always be accessible and never locked.
In crisis situations, it is essential to remain calm, follow the instructions of the authorities communicated via radio or security forces, and avoid overloading mobile communication lines.
