The work aims to deepen the understanding of the agents, activities, and value created by Quality in Portugal, based on the recognition that the Quality Ecosystem integrates a multitude of entities, standards, and practices whose actions are not always coordinated. The absence of an exhaustive mapping and an aggregating approach makes it important to better understand its composition, dynamics, and contribution to the economy and society.
The objective is to identify who the Quality agents are, how many there are, and what value they create, providing a structured view of the ecosystem. The study will also identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for coordination and synergy creation among the different stakeholders. EY-Parthenon supports the IPQ in developing this study, contributing to a comprehensive mapping and the identification of strategic action areas and key entities within the different pillars of the Portuguese Quality System (SPQ): Qualification, Metrology, and Standardization.
The study is part of the regional collective action Qualidade Lisboa 2030, under Activity 1 – Strategic Intelligence of the Support System for Collective Actions (SIAC). This activity also includes the development of the Quality Barometer and a study on the economic, social, and environmental value of Quality in companies, as well as the creation of thematic best practice guides.
The presentation will showcase the ongoing work and deepen knowledge about the Quality Ecosystem in Portugal, contributing to a more integrated view of its stakeholders and the identification of strategic development opportunities.
The study presentation will take place at the Ricardo Fernandes Auditorium, IPQ, Caparica, on October 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
