The ceremony, held on the evening of September 26th, was attended by the Executives of the Municipality, Unions, and Parish Councils, and presented a total of 164 awards, including two Diamond Grade, 66 Gold, 51 Silver, and 45 Bronze, across 22 sports disciplines.
The Mayor of Barreiro Municipality, Frederico Rosa, highlighted the importance of sports in shaping champions for life, emphasizing the values of effort, work, and focus that sports practice provides. "There are over 160 medalists, men and women, from the youngest – truly very young – to the oldest, from adapted sports to the most diverse modalities. That is the great richness of sport," he stated.
The head of the Sports and Associativism Division, Rui Pedro Pereira, expressed pride in recognizing local athletes. "Barreiro is, effectively, a city of sport, a city of associativism. We had over 20 modalities, about 170 medals awarded. It is the result, the culmination of the work of all these people, all these clubs, great sportsmanship, great commitment throughout the year," he emphasized.
The medals were awarded in four grades: Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, recognizing achievements in competitions and contributing to the dignity of Barreiro, as established by the Municipality's Regulation for the Award of Decorations. The criteria for awarding include representation of Clubs, Associations, and/or Entities based in Barreiro, as well as residents and/or natives of the municipality.
The event was enhanced by performances from Artherium Duo – AureaGym, Pablo Assis – Freestyle Football, and the Choir of Municipal Workers of Barreiro.
