The traditional S. Simão Fair, known as "Feira da Fossa", returns to Sardoal on October 28th, with a new location at Avenida Heróis do Ultramar.

The change of venue aims to boost the event, attracting more vendors and buyers. At this fair, it will be possible to find stallholders selling chestnuts, walnuts, almonds, dried figs, cereals, and other dried fruits, typical products of this time of year.
With strong roots in the History and Culture of the Municipality, the S. Simão Fair is held annually on October 28th. This date was chosen because it coincides with the arrival of the "Capuchos", groups of men and women from Beira Baixa who traveled to the region during the olive harvest season.
Although documentary records exist proving that this Fair has been held since 1750, it was in the mid-1970s that it became one of the most important and popular fairs in the entire northern region of Ribatejo. At the time, it represented an opportunity for the local population to purchase clothing and footwear for the approaching winter.
