The Lezíria Local Health Unit (ULS Lezíria) has completed the implementation of automated medication storage and dispensing equipment in its Pharmacy Service, an investment of half a million euros funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The installation of five automated equipment units, including one for refrigerated medications, aims to modernize the storage and distribution area, supporting the preparation and dispensing of medication for unit doses and the Outpatient Pharmacy. This investment is part of a broader technological modernization project for the ULS Lezíria Pharmacy Service.
With the introduction of this technology, it has been possible to optimize storage space, improve stock control, and enhance medication traceability through integration with the ULS Lezíria information systems. Real-time stock synchronization significantly reduces inventory times and ensures more rigorous and efficient management of pharmaceutical resources.
In an organization that manages approximately 1,360 medication references and an average monthly consumption and storage value close to 3 million euros, this modernization represents a significant step in promoting the safety of the medication circuit, the operational efficiency of ULS Lezíria, and the sustainability of the National Health Service.
