The Municipality of Azambuja will mark, on November 13, 2026, the 108th anniversary of the Great War Armistice and the 52nd Anniversary of the End of the Colonial War, with commemorative ceremonies honoring former combatants.

The initiative, promoted by the Vila Franca de Xira Nucleus of the League of Combatants, includes moments of laying flowers and paying tribute at monuments dedicated to combatants, evoking the memory and service of all those who participated in conflicts in service of Portugal.
The program begins in Alcoentre, at 10:00 AM, at the Monument to Combatants, located in Largo Leal de Oliveira (daily market square).
Subsequently, at 11:30 AM, an identical ceremony will take place in Aveiras de Cima, at the monument installed in front of the Grandella Library-Cultural Center.
The commemorative day concludes in Azambuja, at 3:00 PM, in Largo da Palmela, at the Monument to the Heroic Combatants for Portugal.
These ceremonies aim to preserve collective memory, honor the sacrifice of former combatants, and reaffirm the community's recognition of their contribution to the country's history.
The public is invited to participate in these moments of homage and respect for all those who served Portugal in their military missions.
