The meeting brought together public decision-makers, specialists, companies, and communities to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with rural development, covering topics such as digitalization, innovation, heritage valorization, mobility, sustainability, and the role of communities.
In his speech, Jorge Gaspar emphasized the importance of proximity in the actions of public institutions, stating that “proximity must be a lever for the effective exercise of CCDR LVT's competences”.
The Vice-President also highlighted the need to ensure coherence between the defined priorities for territorial development and the available mechanisms for their implementation. “The territorialized instruments for financing public policy must be aligned with the strategic roadmap for regional development policies,” he affirmed.
The event was promoted in partnership by NERSANT, the Municipality of Sardoal, the Intermunicipal Community of Médio Tejo, TAGUS, Médio Tejo 21, Tagusvalley, and the Polytechnic University of Tomar.
