The Municipal Auditorium of Póvoa de Varzim hosted, last Friday, the seminar "Forests and Climate 2026 – Landscape in transformation: knowing, managing, and restoring", focused on discussing pathways for more resilient landscapes.

The event, organized by the Climate Centre and the Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim, brought together researchers, technicians, and representatives from various entities for knowledge sharing and debate. The opening session was attended by the Vice-President of the Municipal Council, Octávio Correia, the Executive Director of the Climate Centre of Póvoa de Varzim, Carla Gonçalves, and the Councillor of the Municipal Council, Marco Barbosa.
This was followed by two discussion panels: "Forest and agroforestry landscapes in transformation" and "Restoring and managing resilient landscapes". The initiative continued with a round table and debate on the theme "From vision to action: how to manage resilient landscapes in a changing climate?".
The closing session featured an intervention by Sandra Sarmento, from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests. Through this initiative, the Municipality and the Climate Centre aimed to raise awareness on topics such as biodiversity, forest and agroforestry landscapes, ecological restoration, and the challenges of territorial management.
