The 3rd edition of the Out of the Blue event was presented yesterday, October 2nd, at the Matosinhos Municipal Market. The event, dedicated to Atlantic gastronomy, ocean sustainability, and valuing Matosinhos' relationship with the sea, runs until October 11th across various locations in the municipality.
The session was attended by Marta Pontes, councilor for Economic Activities, Tourism, Internationalization, and Civil Protection of the Matosinhos Municipal Chamber, Luís Pedro Martins, president of Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, Lídia Monteiro, from Turismo de Portugal, and Carlos Martins, founder of Opium, the organizing entity.
This edition's program includes gastronomic experiences, thematic routes, knowledge sharing sessions, showcookings, and initiatives to promote products, traditions, and communities linked to the territory. The event, launched in 2024, is organized by Opium with the support of Turismo de Portugal and the Matosinhos Municipal Chamber.
Out of the Blue reinforces Matosinhos' identity as a UNESCO Creative City in the area of Gastronomy, with the sea as a central element, blending gastronomy, culture, and sustainability.
Highlights include the 6th edition of the Troféu Portugal, which will bring together eight chefs in five showcooking competitions open to the public, and initiatives such as the Fishing Tour, the Canning Tour, the Masters Tour, the Waves Tour, the Sardine Academy, and the World Academy.
A tribute will also be paid to 100 personalities who promote and enhance the gastronomic landscape of the city and region, as part of the event's program.
Over eleven days, the event offers various ways to discover Matosinhos through its gastronomy and maritime heritage, bringing together residents, visitors, professionals, and communities.
