The Municipality of Gondomar has acquired a historic property on Rua D. João de França, in São Cosme, which will house the future facilities of the Gondomar Conservatory of Music.

The property, located in Largo do Souto, in the central area of the city, dates back to the early 19th century and possesses relevant architectural and historical characteristics. This acquisition represents the first step towards adapting the space, which will require refurbishment to meet the demands of music education.
The President of the Municipal Chamber of Gondomar, Luís Filipe Araújo, highlighted the importance of this acquisition for improving the Conservatory's conditions and for the development of artistic education in the municipality. "At the same time, we are valuing a historic building in the heart of the city, giving it new life and placing it at the service of culture and the community," he stated.
The choice of building considered its central location, accessibility, architectural value, and educational and cultural potential. Its proximity to the amphitheater in Largo do Souto is also seen as an opportunity to boost the cultural life of the area.
