On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, celebrated on October 1st, the Loulé Municipality shared the progress of three social facilities aimed at supporting the elderly population. These projects aim to increase the response capacity in the county, which faces a pressing need for more residential structures.
The Municipal Authority held meetings with the heads of the Centro Social e Cultural de Vale Judeu, the Associação Esperança e Paz, and the Instituição de Solidariedade Social da Serra do Calderão. These promoters are developing the future homes that will enhance the existing offering.
Regarding the future residential facility for the elderly in Vale Judeu, the project is currently under review, with the public tender expected to be launched "very soon". A similar process is underway for the home in Loulé, an initiative by the Associação Esperança e Paz. According to Telmo Pinto, "we await the delivery of the execution project to be reviewed and then also go to tender".
The expansion of the Centro Comunitário de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, located in Barranco do Velho, will enable the creation of another facility in the interior of the county, an area particularly marked by demographic aging. This process is considered "faster", with the specialties already submitted and the tender expected to be launched in the short term.
In total, the three facilities will provide an additional 120 places in care homes. "We continue to work, together with the heads of the institutions, coordinating this effort so that nothing fails and we can respond as quickly as possible to people's needs," highlighted councilor Telmo Pinto.
