The Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP), the Sports Centre of U. Porto (CDUP-UP), and the Alumni Hub of U. Porto (NAUP) are launching the second edition of the UPFit 50+ Health and Well-being Project | Active Body and Mind, running until February 21, 2027.

This initiative, which began on September 28, involves 14 alumni from the University of Porto aged between 61 and 78, aiming to promote physical and mental health and well-being through a safe training environment, nutritional support, and socialization.
Over five months, the program includes two nutrition consultations, assessing body composition via bioimpedance, physical function, handgrip strength, and gait speed. It also features a healthy eating workshop, led by FCNAUP, and weekly UPFit training sessions at CDUP-ICBAS/FFUP on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The personalized consultations take place at the future University Nutrition Clinic facilities on the lower ground floor of FCNAUP, and the healthy eating workshop is scheduled for later this year in the Gastronomy Laboratory.

"This return of alumni to the academy translates into a commitment to the future, combining supervised training with dietary support, individual or group, to promote an active and autonomous life."

The first edition of the project, held last academic year, exceeded expectations, proving that the pursuit of successful longevity gains strength when lived in community, uniting participants in a true family.
Each participant benefits from a tailored plan based on their individual needs and health conditions, covering both physical exercise and dietary advice. The third edition of the UPFit 50+ Health and Well-being Project is already scheduled from March 2 to July 16, 2027.
