LIPOR International participated in the largest annual event dedicated to the European Union (EU)'s regional and urban policy, bringing together representatives from European institutions, national, regional, and local authorities, civil society organizations, universities, companies, and experts. The event debated the main challenges and opportunities associated with European territorial development.
Organized by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Commission, through the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), the event serves as a platform for sharing good practices, promoting inter-regional cooperation, and fostering debate on the future of Cohesion Policy.
LIPOR led the EURegionsTalk "Turning Waste into Shared Energy", demonstrating how regional cooperation can transform waste into shared energy. The practical case of ENNO - Energias do Norte, the largest renewable energy community in Portugal, was highlighted. This project illustrates how new collaborative governance models reduce energy costs, combat energy poverty, and accelerate climate goals.
This participation marks LIPOR's first time at the 2026 edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities, viewing the event as a strategic milestone in its internationalization policy. It offers a privileged opportunity to project its European positioning, promote cooperation with strategic partners, and monitor the evolution of EU policies and instruments impacting environmental management, the circular economy, and territorial sustainability.
LIPOR thus reinforces its position as a leading and pioneering European entity in the environmental and sustainability sector.
