Two doctoral students from the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto (FADEUP) were distinguished at the 49th Technical-Scientific Congress of the Portuguese Association of Swimming Technicians (APTN), held in Tomar on October 17 and 18.

Victor Hugo V. Carrijo secured first place in the Fitness and Aquatic Therapy category with the study “Can a water fitness program change the glycemic and hemodynamic response of older adults with multimorbidity?”, which analyzed the effects of an aquatic exercise program on the glycemic and hemodynamic responses of older adults with multimorbidity. Francisco A. Ferreira achieved second place in the Sports Training and Performance category with the work “Is a training macrocycle enough to reduce fatigue of young swimmers induced by a training session at high intensity?”, which investigated whether a training macrocycle helps reduce fatigue induced by high-intensity sessions in young swimmers.
The works were evaluated based on originality, scientific rigor, interpretation of results, and quality of presentation. The congress brought together specialists in various areas of swimming and aquatic activities.
