The Junta de Freguesia de Rio Tinto (Parish Council) promoted, during September and October, the initiative «Rio Tinto: Seniores em Movimento», which allowed about 300 elderly residents of the parish to participate in cultural and social outings.

The outings visited Fátima, Figueira da Foz, and Vila Real, taking place on three separate days with approximately 100 seniors participating in each trip. These initiatives aimed not only for contact with cultural heritage and landscapes but also to strengthen interpersonal bonds and create moments of sharing outside of daily routines.
Beyond the cultural and recreational aspects, the outings play a crucial role in promoting active aging and combating social isolation. The initiative provides opportunities for participants to meet and socialize, contributing to their overall well-being.
Through the «Rio Tinto: Seniores em Movimento» program, the Junta de Freguesia de Rio Tinto reiterates its commitment to promoting the quality of life for the senior population, valuing social interaction and a sense of belonging to the local community.
