A municipal delegation from Gaia, led by the Mayor, Luís Filipe Menezes, undertook an official visit to Saudi Arabia. The initiative, following an invitation from the Saudi government, aims to deepen the institutional cooperation protocol established earlier in the year with the country's Eastern Province, exploring new development opportunities for the municipality.
During the mission, the delegation was received in official audience by the Governor of the Eastern Province, Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and held working meetings with officials from the Dammam municipality. In Riyadh, strategic meetings took place with the General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) and representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Commerce, and Investment.
The partnership between Gaia and Saudi Arabia focuses on priority areas for modernizing public and territorial management, including urban planning, mobility dynamics, digital transformation, security, and integrated urban management. The collaboration involves the continuous sharing of technical knowledge and the identification of innovative solutions with potential impact in Gaia and the North Region of Portugal.
This official mission has strengthened institutional trust, opening prospects for attracting investment and consolidating joint projects aimed at sustainable development and territorial innovation.
