The Amadora Municipal Chamber and the Public Security Police (PSP) signed a collaboration protocol that includes the delivery of four Seat Leon vehicles, with an investment of €120,649.22, to strengthen proximity policing in the municipality.

The Espaço Fernando Relvas – Recreios da Amadora hosted the signing ceremony of the protocol between the Amadora Municipal Chamber and the Public Security Police (PSP), which involved the handover of four Seat Leon 2.0 TDI 115CV Style vehicles to the PSP. The municipality's investment amounts to €120,649.22, including VAT.
Present at the ceremony were the Secretary of State for Internal Administration, Telmo Correia, the President of the Amadora Municipal Chamber, Vítor Ferreira, and the National Director of the Public Security Police, Superintendent-Chief Luís Carrilho, among other entities and local officials.
The vehicles, the first with the new image of the Mobile Brigade to circulate in the country, are intended to enhance the operational capacity of local police stations and promote proximity policing in the municipality of Amadora. This initiative aims to contribute to the development of community and proximity policing, strengthening cooperation between the Municipality and the PSP in their commitment to the safety, prevention, and well-being of the population.
The handover of the vehicles consolidates the strategy of proximity and coordination between the entities responsible for security, with the goal of making Amadora an increasingly safe municipality, closer to its citizens.

Vítor Ferreira, President of the Amadora Municipal Chamber, reiterated that "in Amadora, safety is a priority". He also announced that "six (6) more vehicles are on their way, in an innovative project focused on visibility and accessibility, which will reinforce our city's image as a modern, inclusive municipality committed to the quality of urban space and the safety of its populations".
The mayor explained that the free loan of these ten vehicles to the PSP, which assumes "all costs so that the PSP can focus on what it does best: Protecting citizens", is part of the PSP's Integrated Proximity Policing Model.
Vítor Ferreira also revealed that the "implementation of the third phase of video surveillance is underway, corresponding to 59 more state-of-the-art cameras", bringing the total number of cameras contributing to the safety of Amadora residents to 200.
The official also announced that the Chamber will continue to invest in the rehabilitation of the Mina and Reboleira police stations, an investment of approximately 4 million euros, to ensure "better comfort, more functionality, and greater dignity" for the officers.

The Secretary of State for Internal Administration, Telmo Correia, highlighted the importance of structural partnerships with municipalities, praising the constant effort of the Amadora municipality. He also noted that video surveillance, while not replacing human elements, allows for "having many eyes on the street at the same time, making police intervention much more operational and effective".
“

"The concern for safety is everyone's, and when we manage to work together – government and central administration, security forces and municipalities – we can go further, we can provide a better service to our fellow citizens."
