The Solidarity Walk of the University of Porto, held on September 26th, raised 274 euros in donations and collected 329 kilograms of food for the Food Bank Against Hunger, in addition to 217 kg of paper for recycling.

This year's edition of the University of Porto's Solidarity Walk raised 274 euros for the Food Bank Against Hunger. Participants also contributed by collecting 329 kilograms of food and 217 kilograms of paper for recycling.
Held on September 26th, the walk brought together 55 participants on a route that combined physical activity and solidarity. The initiative, part of the U.Porto #BEACTIVE 2026 campaign promoted by the U.Porto Sports Centre, also marked the closing of the University of Porto's Week of Citizenship, Volunteering, and Social Responsibility.
The morning began at the University Stadium with an address by Guilhermina Rego, Vice-Rector for Institutional Well-being and Quality at U.Porto. This was followed by a warm-up led by Hélène Oliveira, an instructor from the UPFit Program.
The six-kilometer route took participants through emblematic city spaces, including the U.Porto Botanical Garden, the Crystal Palace Gardens, the Via Panorâmica, and the Romantic Paths. Before returning to the University Stadium, there was an Active Break at the University Circle, led by Marta Rodrigues.
Upon arrival, the organization raffled five UPFit monthly passes among the registered participants, concluding a morning of physical activity and solidarity. The event aimed to support a social cause and encourage sustainable behaviors, reinforcing the environmental component with paper collection for recycling.
The Solidarity Walk was organized by CDUP-UP, in partnership with Revires – Volunteer, Inclusion, and Social Responsibility Network, and was supported by Águas do Porto and the Mental Health Promotion Program BAMBUP.
