The municipality of Porto Santo, in partnership with several entities, is promoting the 3rd "Porto Santo + Limpo" Mega-Campaign from November 4th to 6th for the island's environmental cleanup and preservation.

The initiative celebrates the 6th anniversary of the Porto Santo Island Biosphere Reserve and involves the collaboration of Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM), Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza (IFCN), and the Gabinete da Administração Pública Regional do Porto Santo.
Following the success of the 2024 and 2025 editions, which collected approximately 156 tons of waste, the campaign aims to continue the cleanup work, engaging public and private entities, the school community, and volunteers in combating the abandonment of waste such as bulky items, large objects, and green waste.
The effort is also supported by the Army, Aeródromo de Manobra N.º 3 (AM3), the Harbourmaster's Office (Capitania), the Prof. Dr. Francisco de Freitas Branco Basic and Secondary School with Preschool and Nursery, the CELFF Professional School, and private entities.
Cleanup actions will take place in identified locations across the island. Students will conduct environmental awareness activities for the public in the city center and Campo de Baixo, distributing ARM's informational leaflets on free collection services for bulky and green waste, highlighting the importance of proper disposal and preventing waste abandonment.
The community is invited to participate on the first day, November 4th (Wednesday), with a gathering at 8:30 AM at the Pavilhão Multiusos do Porto Santo.
Everyone's participation is considered crucial for the initiative's success, contributing not only to the cleanliness of public and natural spaces but also to collective awareness and responsibility for preserving the environmental heritage.
