The Parque Ativo by DNA 2026 project, promoted by the Funchal Municipal Council, received the highest recognition awarded by Cidade Social. The award distinguishes municipal projects that stand out for their community impact, innovation, and sustainability.
The councilor responsible for Sports, Helena Leal, welcomed this recognition of the work developed by the Municipality of Funchal in creating proximity initiatives that promote physical activity and the adoption of healthier lifestyles, through an intervention based on inclusion, innovation, and cooperation with local associative and sports organizations.
The Parque Ativo by DNA 2026, managed by the Sports Division of the Funchal Municipal Council, took place between July 7 and 11, 2026, at the Jardim do Almirante Reis. With free and open participation, the project offers the public moments of leisure, social interaction, and experimentation in an inclusive, safe environment suitable for different age groups.
It is worth noting that Funchal is recognized as a "Sports-Friendly Municipality" and, more recently, was distinguished as "Sports Destination of the Year 2026" in the category of municipalities with over 100,000 inhabitants.
