The President of the Funchal Municipal Chamber, Jorge Carvalho, promised investment in the enhancement and professional progression of the Funchal Firefighters, including the transition of the company to a Battalion, contingent on legislative reform.

During the celebration of the 138th anniversary of the Funchal Firefighters, held at the company's barracks, the President of the Funchal Municipal Chamber, Jorge Carvalho, assured the "political commitment of the Funchal Municipal Chamber to its firefighters," which includes reinforcing personnel.
Carvalho guaranteed that the municipality will continue to invest in the professional valorization and progression of firefighters, as well as in their training and the improvement of working conditions and equipment acquisition. The mayor highlighted the municipal commitment to the "transition of the Company to a Battalion," an objective awaiting legislative change for its realization. According to him, this change will represent the recognition of the institution's history, the investments made, and the scope of its mission.
The president praised the history of the Funchal Firefighters, acknowledging the "dedication" and "professionalism" demonstrated for the benefit of the city and its inhabitants. Carvalho expressed "deep recognition" for the work carried out, especially in light of the recent fires that affected the city, where firefighters responded with determination in complex and high-risk situations.
At the ceremony, the new female barracks and the updated facilities for the Firefighters' service chief were presented, improvements aimed at providing more adequate working conditions. The renewal of the vehicle fleet is also a priority, with the goal of "ensuring vehicles suitable for current and future rescue demands." Among the planned equipment are a new medium-sized urban firefighting vehicle, a tactical command vehicle, and a 30-meter ladder truck, in addition to an ambulance.
