The Sintra Municipal Council has greenlit support for the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Algueirão-Mem Martins, specifically for the maintenance of a high-pressure breathing air compressor. This equipment is unique and used by all nine fire brigades in the Sintra municipality.
Marco Almeida, president of the Sintra Municipal Council, emphasized the importance of this measure, stating that “ensuring adequate equipment is fundamental for the safety of our firefighters and for their response capacity”.
The compressor in question allows for the recharging of breathing air cylinders, essential for interventions in adverse or potentially toxic environments. As equipment used across all Sintra brigades, its maintenance aims to enhance the safety and operational conditions for all firefighters in the municipality.
This municipal investment ensures the operational readiness of the brigades and the safety of the professionals, guaranteeing the recharging of breathing air for risk situations.
It is recalled that the Sintra Municipal Council plans to invest 4 million euros throughout this year in support of Humanitarian Associations of Volunteer Firefighters, aiming to strengthen the response capacity and safety of those who serve the Sintra community.
