The initiative, part of the newly inaugurated Mafra Oeste Health Unit, focused on cervical cancer screening (RCCU) for approximately 80 summoned users, with an adherence rate of about 83%. Additionally, the status of attendees regarding colon, rectal, and breast cancer screenings was checked, with invitations extended for any pending tests. Concentrating these actions on a single day facilitated access to preventive care.
The event was a collaboration between the local screening team and a multidisciplinary team from UCSPMN, comprising two General and Family Medicine doctors, a Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing, and a Public Health doctor. The primary objective was to promote health, prevent illness, and facilitate early detection of potential health issues.
This initiative highlights the crucial role of Primary Health Care (PHC) as the first point of contact with the National Health Service. Amidst challenges in accessing care, the joint mobilization of professionals and resources offers a collaborative response to reduce barriers and enhance accessibility to preventive services.
The "Screening Marathon" underscores the value of interprofessional work and collaboration between teams and health units, contributing to more integrated and accessible care. UCSP Mafra Norte reaffirms its commitment to proximity care, person-centered services, and prevention.
