For five days, representatives from EUTOPIA Alliance universities collaborated to identify challenges, share best practices, and develop proposals to expand academic and professional mobility among partner institutions. The program, titled “EUTOPIA in Motion: Expanding ERASMUS Mobility”, took place at NOVA University Lisbon.
Coordinated by NOVA, the event aimed to pinpoint key obstacles to mobility within the alliance and devise joint strategies to overcome them, fostering greater circulation of students, faculty, and staff among partner institutions. Approximately 45 participants exchanged experiences and discussed solutions.
Sessions were held across various university faculties, including the Rectorate, the Faculty of Medical Sciences | NOVA Medical School, NOVA FCT, and NOVA FCSH. The initiative included representatives from nine European universities and the EUTOPIA Central Office.
Topics covered included innovative mobility formats within European university alliances, Erasmus+ experiences and impacts, EUTOPIA's Connected Communities, the creation of an alliance ambassador network, BIP management, collaboration with global partners, and internal communication strategies. The organization underscored NOVA's role in driving EUTOPIA, an alliance it joined in 2021.
The meeting facilitated the consolidation of contact networks, preparation for new joint initiatives, and the formulation of recommendations for future opportunities. The event occurred at a significant time for the alliance, marked by the transition to the new EUTOPIA EDGE strategic cycle, reinforcing partners' commitment to a more integrated and collaborative European university.
