Launched on World Food Day, October 16th, the new podcast from the University of Lisbon's Mental Health and Well-being Program explores, over eight episodes, the factors influencing our food choices. The podcast combines food, science, and well-being, aiming to deconstruct common misconceptions and encourage more conscious and informed decisions.
Throughout the series, specialists from various fields address everyday issues such as fad diets, supplements for concentration and memory, the influence of artificial intelligence and digital marketing on food decisions, the relationship between food and climate activism, meal replacements, and eating habits in higher education. The approach prioritizes scientific evidence.
The episodes cover topics including 'Fad diets: more hype than benefit?', 'Emotions: how do they influence what we buy and consume?', 'Artificial intelligence: smart enough to tell us what to eat?', 'Concentration and memory supplements: where does scientific evidence lead us?', 'Climate activism in Universities: what role can food play?', 'Swipe, like, eat: the power of digital marketing as a food influencer', 'Protein shakes and meal replacements: a healthy way to save time?', and 'Eating habits in Higher Education: where are we and where are we going?'.
Each episode features guest specialists who help explore different perspectives. The podcast was developed as part of ULisboa's Program for the Promotion of Mental Health and Well-being, an initiative funded by the General Directorate for Higher Education (DGES).
The episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube.
