The award was presented to Carlos Pinto Rodrigues, a member of the SPMS Board of Directors, and João Oliveira, Director of the National Center for Telessaúde / SNS 24, last Tuesday, September 29th. The jury selected SPMS's initiative from hundreds of applications, highlighting the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in symptom triage and its integration into the National Health Service (SNS).
Promoted by the Data Science & AI Portugal Association (DSPA) and GoingNext, the awards aim to recognize the application of Data Science and AI in various fields. In the developed solution, AI supports the symptom triage performed before a healthcare professional's consultation. In 2026, over 185,000 clinical triage instances were assisted by AI.
This distinction celebrates the teams' work in developing and implementing the project, as well as the use of AI as a support tool for health services and professionals. The recognition at the "Excellence in Data & AI 2026" awards marks another milestone in SPMS's journey of innovation and digital transformation.
