The project, promoted by ZERO – Sustainable Terrestrial System Association in partnership with the School of Social Communication (ESCS-UPL) and the Lusófona University of Porto (ULP), aimed to equip young people with tools to identify and combat misinformation about climate change. The results and resources are now accessible on the project's new website.
Approximately 40 students from ESCS participated in two workshops. The first focused on the scientific foundations of climate change and information manipulation mechanisms, featuring journalist Vera Moutinho, a researcher at the UNESCO Chair in Communication, Media Literacy and Citizenship. The second workshop allowed students to apply their knowledge by creating communication campaigns targeting other young people, with input from Matilde Inês from RTP's European project ENTR.
The project also included the creation of a mural on misinformation at the Mercado do Forno do Tijolo in Lisbon, in partnership with the collective yesyoucanspray and the Parish Council of Arroios. The work developed by the ESCS team is available on the InfoClima website.
The initiative involved faculty from ESCS, researchers from LIACOM, and members of the UNESCO Chair, strengthening students' preparation in climate and media literacy. InfoClima is funded by European funds under the Catalyst of Change program of the Netherlands Helsinki Committee.
