The Healthy Homes, Happy Families project was honored with the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award in the Social Action category during the IV National Congress of the Social City.

The Healthy Homes, Happy Families project received the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award in the Social Action category – Accumulation Disorder and Diogenes Syndrome. The ceremony took place during the IV National Congress of the Social City 2026, held in Portimão and Lagoa.
Promoted by the Junta de Freguesia de Carnide, in partnership with Gebalis (Local Intervention Offices of Horta Nova and Padre Cruz), the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, the Cooperativa Horas de Sonho, and the Unidade Local de Saúde de Santa Maria (ULSSM), the project aims to improve housing sanitation conditions through integrated intervention.
During the Congress, the partners presented the work developed, sharing experiences and methodologies in the area of improving housing conditions. The participation took place at the Inclusion Stage – Social Action, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in complex situations.
The distinction recognizes the work carried out with the community and its contribution to improving families' quality of life, valuing a cooperative approach among different intervention areas.
The consortium's work is also integrated into the Technical-Professional Manual “Intervening in Accumulation Disorder – practices, strategies, and technical guidelines”, promoting knowledge sharing among professionals and entities in the field.
