Portugal today submitted its 10th and final payment request for the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) to the European Commission, adhering to the timeline defined and agreed upon with Brussels. This request amounts to 4,672 million euros and covers investments and reforms in areas such as health, housing, water management, social responses, and business digitalization.
With the submission of these 96 milestones and targets for the 10th payment, Portugal has fulfilled all 379 milestones and targets set out in the PRR, completing the total allocation of 21,905 million euros. The plan encompassed 92 investments and 4 reforms in key sectors including health, housing, social responses, culture, business capitalization, qualifications, infrastructure, forests, water management, energy efficiency, hydrogen, the sea, energy independence and ecological transition, public finance quality and sustainability, more efficient public administration, digital schools, sustainable mobility, and business digitalization.
The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida, highlighted the PRR's success, measured not only by its figures but also by its impact on businesses, the social network, educational institutions, health systems, local facilities, decarbonization, housing, deregulation, and the digitalization of Public Administration.
“"With this 10th payment request, we have completed 100% of all PRR milestones and targets. These are thousands of successful projects that make us proud. All state departments responsible for PRR execution, Local Authorities, companies, Universities, the entire scientific community, IPSS, and all institutions that gave their best effort to ensure not a single euro of the PRR's 22 billion euros was compromised, deserve congratulations."
The Minister also recalled that "the PRR was the largest investment program in the history of the Portuguese Republic's Administration. It improved the lives of millions of Portuguese people."
