The Order of Engineers and the Military Academy formalized a Collaboration Protocol on October 21st, aiming to enhance institutional cooperation in areas such as higher education and professional qualification.
The protocol reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to academic excellence and the alignment of training with the demands of the engineering profession. A key objective is to align training with the highest European standards through the EUR-ACE® label, awarded by the Order of Engineers, the sole accredited entity in Portugal by ENAEE. This label recognizes the quality of courses and ensures graduates are prepared for the global job market.
The ceremony marked a new step in the historical collaboration between the two institutions. The Commander of the Military Academy, Major-General Luís Calmeiro, highlighted the shared commitment to training engineers, emphasizing the "deep roots" and "common history" that unite them, recalling that a founder of the Order of Engineers was educated at the Army School.
Major-General Luís Calmeiro stressed that the protocol transforms this legacy into concrete commitments for cooperation, innovation, and the advancement of Portuguese Engineering, bridging the gap between training and professional reality and preparing students for future challenges.

"This protocol transforms the continuity of that legacy into effective commitments of cooperation, innovation, and valorization of Portuguese Engineering, allowing us to bring training closer to professional reality in strict alignment with the ethical principles of the profession."
The Vice-President of the Order of Engineers, Jorge Liça, expressed the Order's "great pride" in formalizing this protocol, viewing it as a fundamental instrument for structured rapprochement between the two institutions, capable of shortening the distance between the Portuguese engineering community and the new generation of students. This signing is part of the Order's ongoing effort over the past year to build solid bridges between academic training and the job market.

Jorge Liça emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and urged engineers to remain continuously connected to academia, noting that professional careers extend beyond initial diplomas and that continuous training is key to adapting to new technologies and the rigor required in engineering practice. The protocol will lead to joint initiatives in training and capacity building for future engineers, reaffirming the shared mission to foster national talent and position Engineering and its professionals as indispensable drivers of innovation, economic progress, and sustainable development.
