The Arco-Íris Family Health Unit (USF) in Amadora marks a decade of activity in training General and Family Medicine specialists, consolidating a clinical governance model and a lasting teaching culture.

Established in 2009, USF Arco-Íris transitioned to Model B in 2016 and has been accredited by the Directorate-General of Health since 2018. Over the years, the unit has built a robust organizational structure and a mature clinical governance model, having trained dozens of General and Family Medicine specialists, general training interns, and medical students.
A significant aspect is that the vast majority of specialist doctors currently on the team were also interns at the USF itself, demonstrating a training culture that perpetuates from generation to generation. The unit currently has five specialist doctors acting as mentors and nine MGF interns, all possessing extensive clinical and training experience.
At USF Arco-Íris, interns are not just another team member; they are an integral part, always having someone to discuss with, learn from, and rely on. The team views training interns as preparing future colleagues, many of whom now work at the unit, serving as the best expression of this mission.
ULS Amadora/Sintra emphasizes that quality training is crucial for the future of General and Family Medicine, inviting new professionals to join their team.
