USF Alvalade celebrates its 6th anniversary today, Wednesday, September 30. Established in 2020, the health unit has distinguished itself through its capacity for innovation, always maintaining a focus on people. In 2023, it achieved the status of USF modelo B, a recognition of its quality and organizational maturity.
One project exemplifying this spirit is the Biblioteca Livre (Free Library), created in 2023 by nurses Inês Almeida and Luísa Afonso. Born from a simple idea of sharing reading material, the library is now stocked by users and professionals alike, promoting access to reading in a space where people already gather.
The unit, which provides primary care to approximately 16,000 users, currently has a team of nine doctors, nine nurses, seven technical assistants, and five specialized trainees. Its Performance Index stands at 88.2%.
The commitment of USF Alvalade is reflected in the diversity of projects developed, such as the Working Group for Older Adults, the Alvalade Ativo +65 program, the RADAR Project focused on longevity policies, and the Innobics Project for Sleep Apnea screening. Health Education activities cater to diverse audiences, from parents of infants to primary school students, including walks and health talks.
Jornalvalade, a bi-annual newspaper for users coordinated by nurses Inês Almeida and Joana Abrantes, is further proof of the importance placed on community communication.
Mariana Freire, Coordinator of USF Alvalade, expresses pride in the team and how they reach users. Carlos Neves Martins, President of the Board of Directors of ULS Santa Maria, praises the combination of clinical rigor with human proximity, highlighting the unit as an example that "never settled for enough".
