The municipal campaign “The Hours That Are Not Counted” symbolically covered the 24 hours of the day, highlighting the time dedicated to domestic work, family responsibilities, and care tasks. These essential tasks, such as meal preparation, house organization, childcare, shopping, and caring for family members, require availability and responsibility but are not always recognized, valued, or shared equitably.
The Municipality poses questions for reflection: "How many hours do we dedicate to caring for others? Who plans, organizes, and ensures family tasks? Who has time to rest, participate, or care for themselves? And how many hours are not even counted?"
Through its Municipal Plan for Equality and Non-Discrimination, the Municipality of Nazaré commits to integrating equality and non-discrimination into its policies and practices, promoting community awareness and contributing to the elimination of inequalities.
Marking this day serves as a reminder that equality is also built at home, through the recognition of care work and a fairer distribution of family and domestic responsibilities. Time is a matter of equality.
On the Municipal Day for Equality, the Municipality invites the entire community to reflect, question habits, and promote, in daily life, a true sharing of responsibilities, as everyone has the right to their time.
