The Municipality of Marinha Grande is promoting, on October 3, 2026, the initiative “Marinha Grande com Saúde – Health and Well-being Encounter” at the Parque Mártires do Colonialismo, aiming to raise awareness about cancer prevention and encourage healthy lifestyles.

The initiative, organized in partnership with the Community Volunteer Group of Marinha Grande of the Portuguese League Against Cancer, is aimed at the entire community and seeks to highlight the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of breast and prostate cancer, aligning with the Pink October and Movember Blue movements.
The Parque Mártires do Colonialismo will be transformed into a meeting point dedicated to health, disease prevention, well-being, and community participation, featuring a diverse and free program. Holding the event in October also allows it to be associated with the International Day of Older Persons and the World Music Day, emphasizing the value of active aging, social participation, culture, and music as promoters of quality of life and well-being.
The event will feature the participation of various entities and professionals who will lead activities focused on physical exercise, healthy eating, cancer prevention, mobility, active aging, culture, and leisure.
The program includes a walk at 09:30 with MG Fitness, stretching at 10:30 with Fisicoloucura, and chair relaxation massages between 10:30 and 12:00 with ESEA Calazans Duarte. There will also be a Karate Shotokan demonstration at 11:00 by the Centro de Karatedo MG, and a Healthy Cooking Workshop at 11:15 with chef Tiago Almeida and nutritionist Matilde Cabral.
The afternoon continues with Pilates for mobility at 11:30 with O Meu Estúdio, followed by a talk on the prevention of breast and prostate cancer at 14:30 with Dr. Liliana Jesus, from ULS da Região de Leiria. The program also includes percussion workshops at 15:00 with TocÁndar, senior gymnastics at 15:30 with Fisicoloucura, and sessions of yoga and ballroom dancing at 16:00 with Rita Póvoa and O Meu Estúdio, concluding with tai chi at 16:30 with O Meu Estúdio. The closing is scheduled for 17:00.
Throughout the event, TocÁndar and KotÁndar will provide spontaneous musical moments and entertainment, fostering an atmosphere of conviviality and celebration. Participation is free.
