In the 2025/2026 academic year, ULO had 343 student-athletes (123 female, 220 male) competing in 26 sports. Individually, 33 podium finishes were achieved, including 11 gold, 12 silver, and 10 bronze medals. Collectively, the institution celebrated two national championship titles, three runner-up titles, and one third-place finish.
ULO's student-athletes also achieved international recognition. The men's futsal team placed 5th in the European University Futsal Championship. In the European University Combat Sports Championship, the institution won its first female medal in kickboxing, alongside medals in judo.
During the past academic year, ULO hosted five national university competitions, including the National University Short Course Swimming Championship and the National University Trail Championship. Additionally, the ‘BeActive – Sport for All’ initiative organized 14 sports events, engaging 3,265 participants from the academic community.
The ceremony also awarded Hélder Silva (futsal) as 'Coach of the Year' and recognized national champions in various disciplines. The '2026 Revelation Athlete' awards went to Camila Silva and Ernesto Pereira (athletics), while Josefa Martins (volleyball) and Nazariy Krukovskyy (futsal) were named '2026 Athlete of the Year'.
Recognition awards were also presented to the teams ‘Bate na avó’ and ‘Masoquistas’ for the ‘IPL’s Cup 2026’, and tokens of appreciation were given to the associations OASIS and Casa do Mimo for their work in producing the awards.
