The 14th Congress of the Portuguese Association of Congress Companies, Tourist Animation and Events (APECATE) takes place on October 1st and 2nd, in Leiria. The event gathers entrepreneurs and sector professionals for two days of reflection, sharing, and debate on the challenges and future of tourism and events in Portugal, under the motto "The challenge is us". The Monte Real - Hotel, Termas & Spa is the main venue of the congress, which will feature various speakers linked to the tourism activity and the events sector.
This initiative represents a crucial moment for meeting and reflecting on the sector's evolution and the challenges faced by companies and professionals, in a context where tourism plays an increasingly relevant role in valuing territories and boosting the local economy.
At the opening session, the president of the Leiria Municipal Chamber, Gonçalo Lopes, highlighted the ambition to continue consolidating Leiria as a tourist destination of excellence. He emphasized the importance of valuing the heritage, culture, nature, gastronomy, hospitality, and the diversity of experiences that the territory offers.
Tourism is seen as a strategic opportunity to diversify the economy, attract investment, create jobs, and generate value throughout the municipality. In this regard, the Municipality of Leiria reaffirms its commitment to working together with companies, associations, and sector professionals, aiming to create better conditions for investment, innovation, and qualification of the tourism offer, thereby strengthening the territory's capacity to receive visitors and host initiatives related to tourism and events.
