The Municipality of Ansião has initiated the practical phase of the "Autarca Municipal Jovem" project, opening list candidacies between November 9th and 27th, with elections scheduled for the last week before Christmas.

The Mayor of Ansião Municipality, Jorge Cancelinha, accompanied last Friday, October 23rd, the inauguration of the two student associations of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Ansião (AEA). The event also included the presence of the Councillor for Youth, Sérgio Pires, and the Director of AEA, Ermelinda Mendes, and culminated the VII Week of Active Citizenship of AEA, which took place since October 19th.
The "Autarca Municipal Jovem" project, officially presented by the Municipality of Ansião, will run under the slogan “Your voice. Your ideas. Your municipality.”. The application for lists will be open between November 9th and 27th, with elections scheduled for the last week before Christmas. Students from the 7th to 12th grade can apply, and each list must consist of seven members (five full members and two substitutes).
According to Jorge Cancelinha, each list must devise three projects: two related to investment and a third focused on the realization of an initiative, such as a cultural event. The project has an associated budget of ten thousand euros.
The "Autarca Municipal Jovem" results from the merger of previous projects such as the "Assembleia Municipal Jovem" and the "Orçamento Participativo Jovem". The installation of the elected members is planned for January of next year, followed by a period for developing ideas between February and August, with a final assessment in September.
