The Municipality of Tavira congratulates ABEV – Evolução, Lda., the beach support concessionaire for Terra Estreita Beach, for winning the Areia Viva 2026 contest.

The initiative, organized by the Blue Flag Program and the company Boomlift, aims to promote sustainable beach cleaning, waste management, and circular economy with minimal environmental impact. The contest challenged promoters and concessionaires of Blue Flag awarded beaches to demonstrate how the equipment can benefit and enhance their beach, combining performance and ecological awareness.
The winner was awarded an electric beach cleaning machine (Baby Tapiro 100 Elétrica) with low emissions and reduced noise pollution. This equipment collects debris of various sizes, from small waste to bulky items like stones, wood, and pieces of glass and plastic, enhancing bather safety and marine life preservation.
The machine's results can be amplified if charged via photovoltaic panels. Terra Estreita Beach thus receives a distinction that promotes sustainable beach cleaning.
