The Barão de São João – Walk & Art Fest returns from November 6th to 8th for its ninth edition, inviting the discovery of nature, artistic exploration, and community celebration. For three days, the village of Barão de São João, in the municipality of Lagos, will be the stage for various activities for all ages.
Registration for the event opens on October 14th, at 10:00 AM, coinciding with the release of the full program. Offerings include themed walks and hikes, BTT routes, artistic workshops, activities for children and families, music, poetry, documentaries, and well-being experiences, blending the discovery of the territory with art and nature.
New additions this year include the documentaries Mulheres de Garra by Vera Abreu, a pyrography workshop, mindfulness with mandalas, meditation, crochet, and macramé, which join already familiar festival activities.
This year's collective art installation, titled “Paz & Amor” (Peace & Love), proposes a reflection on the urgency for more human, empathetic, and supportive relationships, in a global context marked by war and division. Art serves as a vehicle for a message of hope, reminding us that a better world begins with how we relate to each other and to nature.
Organized by the Câmara Municipal de Lagos and the Associação Almargem, with the collaboration of partners, the festival is part of the Algarve Walking Season (AWS) calendar, promoting hiking and valuing rural territories in the Algarve.
All activities are free and require registration through the festival's official website at www.walkartfest.pt.
