The new book by Susel Pereira Gaspar, titled “Kapa Quê, João?”, was presented on Friday, October 23rd, at the Castro Marim Municipal Library. The work features canoeing as its backdrop, a sport that will be launched soon at the Agrupamento de Escolas and during Férias Ativas, promoted by the Municipality.
The true story in this book leads readers to the importance of believing in and fighting for dreams, also addressing perseverance, resilience, and overcoming obstacles.
Illustrated by Paulo Salvador Lopes, the book portrays João Ribeiro, who started rowing as a mere pastime but ended up discovering the strength of a champion, making the river his favorite place. Currently, João Ribeiro is an athlete in the canoeing team of Benfica.
Susel Pereira Gaspar, born in Castro Marim, is a writer and a librarian and Special Education teacher. She was born and grew up in the Algarve but has resided in Mértola for over twenty years.
